BLYM Weekly Updates

Hey guys,

When I went to work last Friday, the first sign that caught my eye at my workplace door was "MJ had died. Let's observe a moment of silence for him." Then there was the mad rush of news of his death and the mad rush of songs delicated to him. I like some of his songs but sometimes I wonder, why is there so much news of just one super pop star's death?

What about the rest of the people who are barely surviving? Why can't we concetrate on people like this little gal Charmaine who's fighting for her life and featured on CNA: http://ourfeistyprincess.com/index.php and like Matthew, the little boy, whom Father Michal led a donation cause for?

Think about it.

1) t3 Bible Studies - Wow, the fifth session "Royal Kingdom/ Divided Kingdom".

2) Tuition class are going on as usual on Sunday afternoons for primary and secondary school curriculums. If you are interested to teach or to learn, please call Joachim @ 92394826.

3) Sports Ministry - If you are a young person aged 16 - 35 and is interested in starting a sports related interest group (basketball, netball, bowling, badminton...), why not form a group of 5 or more interested 'kakis' and approach the Youth Ministry to start it? Reach us at sfa.youthteam@gmail.com or 92394826!

4) Intercessory - Every fortnight, a group of youths and young adults come together to pray for the petitions of the ministry, the parish and the young people. If you do have any intercessions, please send them to this email and we will pray for you.

5) COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS WITH YOUR TEENS? Don't know how to engage them in a conversation without screaming at each other? You are not the first... Someone is here to help. A parenting-workshop by a reowned counsellor coming soon in August. An initiative of the Youth Ministry for the parents and people working with youths.

6) Hearts on Fire Rally 09 is here again - Jointly organised by NTU, NUS and SMU, tertiary students are welcomed to this rally. Date falls on 11 July, 7.30pm @ Catholic JC Performing Arts Centre. If you are interested, you could reply back with your name, hp no and age.

7) A CHANCE NOT TO BE MISSED! - St. Mary of the Angels will be hosting a nationwide Great Adventure Bible Seminar this July 24-25th. For the first time, Thomas Smith, part of the team of the Great Bible Adventure Studies program and an internationally acclaimed scripture scholar, has been invited to Singapore to illuminate the Word over two amazing days in July. Thomas will be focusing on this year's Bible Sunday theme, 'A God Who Speaks', revealing the voice of God as spoken through the prophets of the Old Testament up to the Book of Revelation. Per pax: $20.

Also, exclusive sessions on the New Evangelisation and Christian Discipleship will be held for youth and young adults (13-35) on July 26th. Targeted at those in Youth Ministries, doing youth work or doing catercists for young people.

If you are interested to join in for either of these two programs and would like to go as a group, you can either contact us to go together - indicate your interest with topic: GABS (Great Adventure Bible Seminar) or NECHD (New Evangelisation and Christian Discipleship), name, email, DOB, hp contact, and ministry (if any) - or you can register yourself at http://www.stmary.sg/greatadventure.

Peace,
Joachim

Hey Joachim,

Thanks for the mention of the Great Adventure Seminar. I think it is going to be an awesome event too!

The talks planned, the exhibition, and especially the youth segment - they're all going to be really well done.

Plus, I've spoken to the speaker over Skype and wow, there are going to be some really insightful points brought up in those talks!

Basil.
